Current Honours+ Students

Find everything you need for your participation in the Honours+ programme! Consult the student handbook, keep an eye on upcoming events and deadlines, sign up for workshops, and contact the Honours+ Central Management Team.

 

  • Checklist upcoming deadlines

    Deadline: Wednesday, October 28

    Honours+ Kick-Off Event
     

    1. Attend the Honours+ Kick-Off event, during which you will meet your team and Supervisor

    Deadline: Friday, November 13

    Team Kick-Off Meeting
     

    1. Schedule your first team kick-off meeting together with your Supervisor to set ground rules for teamwork;
       

    2. Complete the individual section of the team charter and bring it to the team meeting.
       

    3. Attend the meeting; check the Kick-Off Meeting checklist for this meeting to see if you discussed all important topics.
       

    4. Complete the team section of the team charter together. 
       

    5. Send the completed team charter to your Supervisor.

    Deadline: Friday, November 13

    Schedule regular team meetings throughout the programme. 
     

    1. Schedule weekly sessions with your student team;
       

    2. Schedule sessions with your Supervisor and keep them updated on your progress on a regular basis.

    Deadline: Sunday, January 10 (23:59hrs)

    Question formulation & clarifying research focus 
     

    1. Complete your team’s literature review on the topic of the challenge;
       

    2. Define your final research question;
       

    3. Send a draft to your Supervisor for feedback.
       

    4. Send an email to honoursplus@maastrichtuniversity.nl with your team’s research question.

    Deadline: as soon as you can or know your course schedule

    Attend 2 workshops of your choosing.
     

    1. Sign up on time for two workshops (limited spaces); 
       

    2. Attend two workshops.

    Deadline: Between Monday January 11th and Friday March 12th

    Honours+ Expert Consultation 
     

    1. Identify min. 5 potential experts in your chosen topic, and check with your H+ Supervisor if these experts are suitable options.
       
    2. Write a professional email to potential experts using the template provided by Honours+.
       
    3. Agree on a date and location with your confirmed expert.
       
    4. Ultimately by Monday February 15th, send an email to honoursplus@maastrichtuniversity.nl of which expert you are meeting and when. 
       
    5. Two days before your scheduled session, send your expert a reminder with practicalities, such as location of your meeting or Teams link, additional information related to your research topic etc.
       
    6. If by Monday February 15th you were not yet able to arrange for a session with an expert, please contact honoursplus@maastrichtuniversity.nl to see how we can support you further in this.
       
    7. Prepare a 10–15-minute presentation detailing your research topic, progress, findings, and the specific problem or question for which you need expert input.

    Deadline: Monday, March 1st, (23:59 hrs.)

    Step 2: Select research methods 
     

    1. Design the actual study, define the methodology;
       

    2. Send a draft to your Supervisor for feedback.

    Deadline: Friday, March 19th

    Schedule the Midterm Challenge Review meeting 
     

    1. Schedule the Midterm Challenge Review meeting with your Supervisor;
       
    2. Prepare for the meeting by filling out the Midterm Review Form and submit the filled out form to your Supervisor, at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting. 
       
    3. Prepare a concise presentation that summarizes your consultation with the expert, the key takeaways, suggestions, and how you plan to integrate the expert’s feedback or insights into your research. 
       
    4. Attend the actual meeting as a team, with the Supervisor present, and make agreements for the second half of the team challenge and your team’s functioning;

    Deadline: Sunday, April 11th (23:59 hrs.)

    Step 3: Collect data 
     

    1. Collect the necessary data;

    Deadline: Sunday, April 25th (23:59 hrs.)

    Step 4: Analysis & data interpretation 
     

    1. Organize the collected data;
       

    2. Analyze the results;
       

    3. Send a draft to your Supervisor for feedback.

    Deadline: Sunday, May 2nd (23:59 hrs.)

    Step 5: Conclusion 
     

    1. Generalize your results. Relate what you have learnt on a small scale to the bigger picture;
       

    2. Provide potential suggestions for further research;
       

    3. Highlight the potential solution you are offering (applied research challenges), or the new knowledge you added to the already existing knowledge on this topic (theoretical research challenges);
       

    4. Send a draft to your Supervisor for feedback.

    Deadline: Tuesday, May 11th (16:00 hrs.)

    Honours+ Closing Event  
     

    1. Hand in the printed poster at EDLAB, TAPX, room 0.003 (Deadline: Tuesday May 11th, 16:00 hrs);
       
    2. Attend the Closing Event on Wednesday May 12th;

    Deadline: Friday, June 4

    Team Closing Session 
     

    1. Schedule a team closing session together with your Supervisor to evaluate and discuss the results of the team challenge. 

    Deadline: Friday, June 4

    Reimbursement of costs
     

    1. Send in the filled-out reimbursement form of your team’s spending. Attach original receipts, sign the form and send it to honoursplus@maastrichtuniversity.nl, or drop it off at EDLAB (processing them by Finance, will take 4-8 weeks).
