    The Project:

Most organisations want to become more sustainable. But knowing that change is needed and actually making it happen are two very different things. How do you turn sustainability ambitions into everyday action? And what does it take to get people across an international organisation to embrace more sustainable ways of working?

Welcony is a global neurotechnology company with four brands: Magstim, which develops transcranial magnetic stimulation devices; EGI, which develops high-density EEG devices; Technomed, which produces disposable clinical neurophysiology electrodes and probes; and Neurosign, which develops tools for intraoperative nerve monitoring. With production facilities in Indonesia and the UK, Welcony supplies medical devices to hospitals, research institutes and universities worldwide. Its operations raise important sustainability questions, from international shipping to the environmental impact of single-use medical products. While some of these impacts are difficult to avoid, there may be opportunities to make the organisation itself more sustainable.

    That's where you come in.
Welcony wants to understand how it can raise sustainability awareness and encourage more sustainable practices across its four brands and international operations. There is no predetermined solution. Your challenge is to explore what could help Welcony become more sustainable in practice. Could this involve changing employee behaviour, improving internal communication, or integrating sustainability into everyday work? Or might your research reveal entirely different opportunities for change?

As a PREMIUM team, you will investigate the challenge from different academic perspectives, explore what drives or prevents sustainable behaviour, and identify opportunities for meaningful change. You will have the freedom to define your approach and develop evidence-informed recommendations that fit the organisation's context.

The challenge is not simply to tell people to be more sustainable. It is to figure out what actually helps turn good intentions into lasting change.

If you are interested in sustainability, human behaviour, organisational change or the gap between what organisations say and what they do, this project offers the opportunity to put your academic knowledge to work on a real-world challenge with international dimensions.
