Many PREMIUM and Honours+ students are highly capable, motivated, and conscientious. Yet Coaches, Mentors and Supervisors often observe that students adopt a relatively passive role within their learning journey. They complete assignments, attend meetings, and respond when asked, but rarely take initiative, challenge themselves, seek feedback proactively, or create opportunities for deeper learning.

It can be tempting to fill these gaps by providing more direction, more structure, or more solutions. However, this often reinforces dependency rather than ownership.

This interactive workshop explores how you can encourage students to move from passive participation to active ownership of their learning, development, and project outcomes. Through practical examples, case discussions, and evidence-based insights, participants will learn how to foster a more proactive mindset while maintaining support and psychological safety.
