Conflict and tension are not necessarily problems to be avoided. They can be moments of insight, learning, and even deeper connection, if we know how to approach them.
In this interactive workshop, we will explore Marshall Rosenberg’s approach to Nonviolent Communication (NVC)and how it can support Coaches, Mentors and Supervisors in their conversations with students. NVC offers a practical framework for becoming more attentive to what is happening beneath the surface of difficult conversations: our feelings, needs, and the needs of others.
We will look at how NVC can be used in one-on-one coaching and mentoring conversations, as well as when tensions or conflicts arise between people. Rather than seeing conflict as something to fear, fix, or shy away from, we will explore how we can approach it with curiosity, empathy, and reflective awareness.
The workshop will combine an introduction to the principles of NVC with practical exercises. Together, we will explore how listening differently and learning to express our own needs more clearly can change the way we experience and navigate conflict.
The central question of the workshop is:
What if conflict is not something we need to be afraid of, but an opportunity to understand ourselves and others better and to build stronger connection and collaboration?
